Welcome to the DT38 July newsletter, Channel38.
This is where we bring together all the very latest developments, events and support stories at DT38.
It’s also a chance for us to share important information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly offering our thanks to the many people who support us in our endeavours.
DT38 Awareness Night Down Under
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for this important evening for DT38 Australia at Northern Falcons FC in Victoria.
We’re very grateful to our star-studded panel including Josh Risdon and Mark Rudan of Western United, Scott Jamieson of Melbourne City, Herald Sun football writer David Davutovic, Peter Filopoulos of Football Victoria and Adrian Connolly from the Australian Table Football Association who himself is battling testicular cancer.
More than 200 people joined us to meet the panel and discuss the risks of testicular cancer as part of our ongoing mission to raise awareness of the disease.
We are honoured that the Northern Falcons FC is DT38’s community club in Victoria and we thank you for your amazing hospitality and also to our esteemed panel and all guests.
Together our messages continue to reach more people than ever.
ASICS London 10k
We are extremely grateful to everyone who ran the Asics London 10k for DT38 on a beautiful morning in the English capital.
The event took place on July 21 and our team put in a mammoth effort to raise awareness and funds for DT38.
We were delighted to welcome Mitchell Swift who played football with Dylan Tombides in Hong Kong and DT38 Ambassador Rhys Ryan who had recently flown in from Australia.
Our awesome team deserves a huge round of applause:
Thank you one and all!
Manchester United v Leeds United
A delegation from DT38 was honoured to be guests as the Red Devils faced The Whites at Optus Stadium on July 17.
We are very grateful to staff at Manchester United for inviting our team of 160 supporters to complete a pre-match pitch lap to raise awareness of DT38 and our main message to share the risks of testicular cancer and the importance of self checking and early detection.
The pre-season friendly match finished 4-0 to Manchester United.
A Few Minutes with Mark Lee
In July we were delighted to publish an exclusive interview with former Perth Glory midfielder Mark Lee.
The DT38 Ambassador opened up to DT38 about his memories of Dylan, the highs and lows of professional football, the joy of coaching young people and much more.

New DT38 Ambassadors – Josh Wilkins & David Davutovic
We’re delighted to welcome two new DT38 Ambassadors.
Josh Wilkins plays as a full back for Heidelberg United FC in the National Premier League Victoria and played his junior football with Dylan at Perth SC and David Davutovic is the Chief Football Writer at the Herald Sun newspaper, he had the pleasure of interviewing Dylan Tombides.
A very warm welcome to Josh and David and thank you for your support.
Free Scans Down Under and a Challenge is Set!
We are so pleased to join forces again with Ultrasound Services and Football West to offer free testicular cancer screenings in Western Australia.
The event will take place at Ultrasound Services Applecross on August 24, 2019 and is available for males aged 15-45.
Furthermore, if you play football at any level you have a chance to win a bag of amazing equipment for your club, thanks to the DT38 Australia Screening Challenge with Football West.
Each player that books a testicular cancer screening needs to mention which club they’re from and the club with the most registrations will win that pack of brilliant gear!
Of course, you don’t need to play football to secure your free screening, everyone who meets the age criteria is welcome.
An ultrasound screening involves a short scan to look for intratesticular masses. A radiologist report will then be sent to your GP with the results of the screening ultrasound.
So, to enter the DT38 Australia Screening Challenge by booking your screening register your place now by calling 9583 5199 or registering online at ultrasoundservices.com.au
Huge thanks to Duncan Hardy of Ultrasound Services and Football West for helping us with this event, which can save lives!

Many Happy Returns
We marked a quartet of Happy Birthdays among our DT38 Ambassadors in July.
Fox Sports Australia presenter Adam Peacock celebrated being one year older on July 7 and one week later (July 14) footballer Rhys Williams of Al-Qadsiah was 31-years-old.
On July 27 Josh Risdon of Western United turned 27 and on July 31 boxer Mark Little who was 31.
Many Happy Returns one and all!
Picture of the Month
So, we are always so pleased to receive amazing pictures of people across the world showing their support of DT38 in various ways and we choose one each month to name our “Picture of the Month”.
But this month we’ve thrown the rule book out of the window and plumped for two inspiring images.
We’ve gone for this fantastic photo of law student and DT38 supporter Jakie M who paid a visit to Dylan Tombides’ memorial statue while on a trip to Perth and also this shot of Dylan’s brother Taylor and his West Ham United coaching colleague Liton paying their respects at the same special place.
Sharing the Love
We are so grateful to more than 30,000 people who follow and support us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Every month we receive so many shares, Retweets, likes and tags and we’re so grateful for each and every one of them, thank you.
And that brings to end this edition but we’ll be back with the next edition of Channel38 in August.
If you have helped DT38 in some way in recent times, please be sure to let us know so we can include it in one of our future newsletters. Contact email@example.com or connect with us on Twitter Facebook or Instagram
